Chinatown

During the final scene of the movie, the director portrays Chinatown is Los Angeles to be a very dark and dull place. In many cities, Chinatown is somewhere where there are usually a lot of people, bright lights and very vibrant colors. The original Chinatown opened in Los Angeles in 1938. The representation of this Chinatown is nothing like what it actually looks like in real life. Even though it is late at night, there would still be a lot of people and the bright lights that are accustomed to Chinatown.

Another thing that is not really correct in the movie is how the actors are dressed. The 70’s were a time where people were free to express themselves however they felt like and they usually did this in their clothing. All of the actors in the movie are all wearing dark or very dull colors when many would say that the 70’s were a very colorful time in history and this is where fashion really started to take off. instead of the one color suit that the woman is wearing, they might have worn a multi colored suit or maybe not even a suit at all. The feel that the director was going for is definitely a dark and mysterious feel because this time period was definitely not like that. This is a time where women started to actually show more skin and the clothing was more revealing. In the movie, all of the actors are dressed very conservative.

Something that the audience would feel throughout the course of the movie would be that it seems like most people in Los Angeles are up to some type of crime. This movie does not show many people who are just bystanders in the movie. every character that they show is somehow wrapped up in some type of crime or up to something that is not good.Los Angeles is a city where people come from all over the world and live there. Especially in Chinatown, the only Chinese people they showed in Chinatown were at the end and there were only about 15 people. Chinatown would be packed with Chinese people because that is there culture and there tend to be much more Chinese people than other people in Chinatown.
