From the begginning of the movie up until this scene, the director is introducing the key characters in the movie such as Hannabil Lector, Clarice and JAck Crawford. Clarice is stuck with the tough task of talking to Hannabil Lector to try and figure out who Buffalo Bill is. She is the top student of her class in the academy and she is trying to work for Mr. Crawford so this is an amazing opportunity for her. She has to walk through this gruesom hallway passed these horrible people to get to Lector and the scene where they talk is definitely one to remember.
During the movie, Buffalo Bill is continuing to kill women and the FBI is trying everything they can to stop him. Hannabil Lector is someone who knows who Buffalo Bill is and is also very dangerous himself. When he is asked by the govenor to help in the cathing of Buffalo Bill, he gets locked up in a cage surrounded by armed guards. When Clarice comes to visit him, he gives her a clue as to where Buffalo Bill is. Once she leaves, Lector takes advantage of the officers feeding him to kill both of the men and escape while wearing the face of one of the officers. This is a turning point in the movie for both Lector, Clarice and Crawford. Lector escapes in an ambulance when they think he is one of the officers.
This scene is one that starts the end of the movie. Clarice takes a clue that Hannibal Lector gives her and she follows up on it. Following a suspition that crawford and the FBI are not at the location of Buffalo Bill, Clarice goes to the home of a woman that knew one of the victims. When she is there, she sees a man who lives in the house that seems to be harmless. Once she sees the butterflys in the house, she finally realizes that the man is Buffalo Bill. She is all alone and has to take him down by herself. She eventually shoots him and the rest of the FBI is soon to follow at the house. Lector is never to be seen again and Clarice ends up working for the FBI and presumably works for Crawford. Lector calls Clarice and tells him her that he is having an old friend for dinner meaning his former doctor.
